Position Summary:

The Warehouse Associate contributes to the achievement of Company goals by handling raw materials and finished goods while maintaining a safe working environment. A Warehouse Associate is in charge of material handling, processing and tracking inventory with an RF gun, and transporting materials throughout the facility. They must work in various areas as assigned, such as the cooler and freezer. The Warehouse Associate reports to the Warehouse Supervisor directly.

Key Responsibilities – Warehouse:

  • Using an RF gun to perform transactions such as receiving, putting away, transferring, and conducting inventory inquiries
  • Using a forklift, reach truck, dock stocker, or ride-on pallet jack, transport raw materials, finished goods, and equipment throughout the facility.
  • • Conducting pre-shift equipment inspections to ensure safe use throughout the day and communicating any issues to Warehouse Supervisors
  • Checking tires, lights, brakes, and the reefer unit; driving a 5 ton truck to transfer goods and materials on urban and inter-urban routes.
  • Keeping the work environment clean
  • Following the Company’s safety policies and procedures as well as those established by WorkSafeBC.
  • As needed, work in other areas
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Key Responsibilities-Material Handling:

  • Coordination and communication with production to assess raw material requirements; locating supplies in the warehouse and bring them to where they are needed.
  • Notifying warehouse managers of raw material shortages
  • Using an electric pallet jack to move raw materials and finished goods around the warehouse.
  • Following the Company’s safety policies and procedures as well as those established by WorkSafeBC.

Requirements, Skills & Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of one to three years of production experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience with an RF gun is preferred; experience driving a 5-ton truck is preferred; forklift certification is required; and a Class 5 driver’s license is required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, safe, and respectful workplace.
  • Working as part of a team, often with little supervision
  • Abiding by Company policies and procedures
  • Reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available for day, evening, and weekend shifts
  • Cool environment
  • Hearing protection, visible vests, and steel-toe shoes are required
  • Long periods of standing and walking (approximately 8 hours a day)
  • Motorized vehicle operation
  • Moving heavy objects, such as lifting (floor to waist, waist to shoulders, and overhead) and carrying up to 25kg, as well as pushing and pulling up to 400kg with a pallet jack.
  • Exposure to job-related hazards, such as heavy objects, moving vehicles, and slippery floors.
